Outdoor Play

Outdoor play promotes numerous learning possibilities in social and language development such as turn taking, cooperation, negotiation and problem solving skills as well as science and maths concepts, construction skills, creativity and artistry. Sand and water play incorporate Te Whariki strand 5-Exploration and are an integral part of our New Zealand culture. Carpentry incorporates Te Whariki strands 3 & 5- Contribution & Exploration and develops fine motor skills, eye hand coordination, problem solving, construction and creativity. Gardening teaches vital life skills, a love and respect for natural environment and the rhythm of the seasons and an understanding of where food comes from. We have a huge range of resources to develop gross motor skills and balance and build strong foundations for playing sport at school.
